Getting Lost

She sniffed the air and then nodded. "Let's go inside the church for now."

"Alright." She nodded. She looked around and turned to head back for the church.

She stayed close to Julia and kept an ear out. "Julia, we should probably have you lay low for a while."

"Lay low? I thought you said you could protect me from everyone?"

"I can protect you from people yes, but not everyone. We want this heat on you to die down a bit."

"Yeah, you've got a point." They arrived at the church. "Make sure no one followed us."

She nodded and then sniffed the air a bit before turning and closing the doors. She then grabbed a few chairs and placed them in front of the door.

"I hope that holds...Oh wait, we forgot to get food while we were out." Now catching her breath, she realized that they hadn't eaten anything today.

"Don't worry I carry food with me in my bag. Plus I can always go out to a forest and Hunt."

"Y-you have food?" She stared starry-eyed at Stella, almost drooling.

She nodded. "Since I travel alot, I bring food with me or hunt." She set her bag down and then opened it and started rummaging through it. "Ah here we go." She pulled out a bag of what looked like beef jerky and salt. "I've been preserving this for about a week."

"C-can we have some now?"

She opened the bag and handed a couple pieces of jerky to Julia. "Here."

"Thank you for the meal." Julia took the jerky and took a big bite.

She sat down and pulled out two more pieces of jerky taking a bite herself. "So, think your brother will show up looking for his whip?"

She swallowed the piece that was in her mouth and breathed a bit. "I hope not. But knowing him he might...say this is really good." She took another bite of the jerky.

She finished eating and then closed her eyes. "So, Julia. What does your brother do?"

"Well, our family lives in this huge castle, see. And he's like the next head of the family. He mostly now adays goes to business meetings and stuff with father but he trains a lot. He killed a really powerful demon as well, took down the entire enemy strong hold singlehanded in less than 5 minutes.

"Hmm, he sounds like he could be arrogant then." She opened her eyes and grabbed some more jerky tossing another piece to Julia.

She caught the piece. "He's a little arrogant, but also kind of humble. He's easily frightened too. Well, I shouldn't say easily. He isn't afraid of the usual things. But anything cataclysmic makes him very paranoid." She took a bite out of the new piece.

"I see..."She took a bite and then closed her eyes.

Suddenly Julia got very worried. "Maybe that's why he needs the whip so badly..."

"Then he'll definitely show up."

"But if something cataclysmic is happening, that's bad. That's really bad. Maybe we can mail it to him or something?"

"Can you contact him?"
