A girl from the gate.

Kairi walked through an alleyway. She had been walking around for days...where was she even at? She knew it was a city...cities had alleys. She tripped on a brick, sending her sprawling to the ground. She sat up, her ragged clothes covered in dirt from the ground. She looked back in the direction she came from, seeing cars pass by. Who was she? Why was she here?

Ghisk was walking around looking for an easy target to steal from. He was walking down the alley when he spots the girl. He stops and looks at her.

She stood up, shakily, and walked back in the direction she came from, oblivious to his presence.

He walked up to the girl, "hey you might wanna be careful it is not safe to be around here dressed like that ."

She turned to look at him. Who was he? What was he talking about...she was dressed as she always was...wasn't she?

Ghisk walked up to her, "you are dressed in worse rags than me."

Rags? She looked down at her clothes, dirt from the ground still on them. She looked at him, his clothes...

His clothes were rags not as bad as her though, his looked more like a style intended to look like rags.

She looked around, people passing in front of the alley gave her a glance, but not a second. They figured she was a street urchin, something to not pay any attention to. She turned away, and walked away from the man. She'd come this far...dressed like this.

Ghisk followed her having a girl around could make stealing way easier, "hey wait up I could help you."

Help? She looked at him. She tried to ask what kind of help, but no sound escaped her lips...her stomach growled...perceivable to no one but her due to the noises nearby. She looked down, hand on her chest where her stomach was. How long had it been? She didn't remember.

Ghisk looked at her, "got something to say?"

She looked at him, then shook her head slowly, walking off. She thought about food now. She'd find some.

Ghisk kept following, "hey come on at least tell me your name."

He was persistent. He'd followed her a couple of blocks...not that she was moving all that fast. She looked at him. How could she tell him something she didn't know?

Ghisk sighed, he pulled out a candy bar he had on him. "I will give you this if you stop and talk to me."

She eyed it, unsure of what it was. She stopped walking to look at him. She apparently couldn't speak...she could read...but she didn't know if she could write...she knew little about herself. Her name, her age...nothing.

Ghisk opened it up and handed it to her, "eat it I swear it is good."

He said eat...so it was food? She grabbed it, eying him. Who was he...did she know him? She took a bite.

Ghisk waited for her to finish chewing, "good right?"

She looked at him. She tried to speak, but couldn't...did she even know how to speak?

Ghisk tilted his head at her, "can you even speak?"

She looked at him and felt her throat instinctively. She gave him a confused look, unsure of how to relay her uncertainty to him.

Ghisk thought about it, "well you seem to be in bad shape. Can you nod and shake your head to say yes and no?"

She nodded. That she could at least do, since she knew that much.
